Chicago, IL
Start/Scheduled Date of Completion Date:
March 2015 - October 2016
Project Scope:

EganAt the Egan Water Reclamation Plant itself, the project involved replacing the following:

  • (4) 480V secondary unit substation power centers, including watertight seals and drip pans on manholes, a new door with panic hardware, and other associated work as required
  • (1) 480V Motor Control Center
  • (2) 480V power distribution panels
  • (4) 208/120V lighting/auxiliary power panels
  • (2) automatic transfer switches
  • (1) 30kVA transformer

  • All associated conduit and wiring, including signal connections from the electrical equipment to the existing Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • A new high resistance grounding (HRG) system for existing secondary unit substations

One motor control center was also replaced at the nearby Hamilton Reservoir, requiring coordination with ComEd to procure a new outdoor CT compartment, watt hour meter, and grounding of the existing utility transformer. At the conclusion of the project, the team performed short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis studies for both locations.

The project-specific safety plan for this project included Confined Space Entry procedures. Project correspondence and documentation were handled using Autodesk Constructware software.
